Why will finale 2014.5 not open midi file

This screen is similar to the mapped instrument object in logic where you can assign a label/midi note value combination to a position on the staff. Window->score manager-> notation style settings.Brings up a percussion layout selection.Here I would Just duplicate the one at the top called percussion and label it Logic Pro. Now the fun part - You only have to do this once in Finale (once you create a percussion mapping that matches logic you never have to do it again). Now do view show percussion midi values ( which puts the midi note values in the score which temporarily makes things easier). ( also select channels become staves at the top) When you open the midi file at the bottom of the import window there is checkbox asking if you want to create percussion staves ( enable this) and make sure the midi channel matches whatever channel you exported from Logic ( if it is 10 - no need to change) if it is some other channel - then make it match. This table also shows the mapping between Midi note values and Names. Under the device drop down select General Midi. Midi/Audio->Device Setup->Edit percussion maps. So first you have to get finale to be the same. Logic uses GM Midi Drums by default unless you change the names / /note #'s

Logic's Drum note on the first line of the staff is (based on my mapping) is a 35 but finale treats it as if you wanted an E note which is 64 at that staff position. As finale sees the notes on the line as what they are relative to the image. Since you are using drums mapped differently and with offsets relative to staff positioning - this will not work. With XML you are importing what you see on the screen.

( in case you really want to do an import - meaning you have several staves already and want to add on to a finale score - you open the midi file using the above technique and copy the staves from one document to another). Christmas 'Santa's Marching Band' working again as it did when I purchased it many years ago. I then put it back together and proceed to do the same thing to all the other ringers that didn't work. On the non ringing unit I simply moved the motor back and forth by hand and after doing so the motor started responding to the pulses coming into it. I decided to open up the non working bell ringer and I found that there is a small electric motor moves the arms that rings the bell's simply by powering the motor one way and then to ring the other bell they reverse the polarity of the wires, Very similar to a Servo but much simpler. I was even more curious as to there only being two wires going to ring two separate bells. As I suspected the working ringer continued to ring in the nonworking spot. I marked the wires to the ringers and decided to unsolder the one bell ringer that worked and solder him in place of a nonworking ringer. I opened up the unit and did not find any cold solder joints however i decided to put my scope on the output wires to the belle ringers and to my surprise all the bell ringers were getting pulses to them and yet only one worked. I decided I would take a look for cold solder joints as I repair arcade circuit boards for a living. I was upset and went to the web to find this page to be the only information on the internet. To my surprise I had only one bell ringer working. I decided to get it out as i now have a three year old Niece my wife and i have been watching regularly. I used it once and it has been in storage all these years. I have a 5 man bell Choir that I purchased some 15 or 20 years ago.
